As a Louisiana grandfather, I’ve seen what it means for families to fight for their kids’ health. But for too many families facing rare diseases, there’s not even a treatment to fight for. That’s something Congress can change right now—by passing the Give Kids a Chance Act.

This bipartisan bill would help get lifesaving treatments to children with rare and often deadly diseases. It does so not by creating more bureaucracy or spending more taxpayer money, but by encouraging private companies to develop drugs they’d otherwise overlook. It’s a free-market solution to a devastating problem.

We’re lucky to have Majority Leader Steve Scalise representing our district. He’s always fought for families, for life, and for common-sense reforms. I hope he’ll do the same here—by making sure the Give Kids a Chance Act is included in the September funding package.

Let’s give these kids—and their families—a real reason to hope.
